Akron officer involved shooting

An Akron officer involved shooting Monday night left a 15 year old in the hospital. It happened around 7pm. Police say a woman called to report a man pulling out a gun and pointing it at homes in the area of Tonawanda Avenue and Newton Street in Akron. An officer found the teen near the intersection of Brittain Road and Ottawa Avenue and fired a single shot, striking him in the hand. The teen was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury. The officer was a 9 year of the force and was placed on paid administrative leave, and the Ohio BCI will conduct an investigation. The officer was equipped with a body-worn camera and the footage will be released within 7 days.
