A 27 year old Akron woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man back in May of 2023. Kaelyn Smith, of Kohler avenue in Akron pled guilty to murder with a gun specification. Prosecutors say, May 24, 2023, Jon Tae Nelson and Brandon Colter went to Smith’s Akron house to get a barbecue grill. Nelson and Smith, who used to live together, got into an argument with Smith throwing charcoal at Nelson and Colter. Smith then chased Nelson and Colter after they drove away, and when stopped at the intersection of 27th Street and Carey Avenue, Smith shot at their vehicle, hitting Colter.
