1 dead, 24 shot in Akron

A shooting at a street party Saturday night in Akron turned deadly, leaving 25 people shot, including a 27 year old man, who is dead and 2 other people in critical condition. The shooting appeared to be a drive-by at a birthday party at Kelley and Eighth Avenues that had spilled into the street. Some of the party goers were firing back. Around 10pm, police said they went to a private residence where the part was occurring. About 200 people were present, and police asked them to disperse from the street because of motor vehicle traffic. Police say, between 10pm and midnight, people returned to the party, and just after midnight, police say they received calls about shots being fired. At the scene, police found several handguns and multiple types of shell casings, including casings from a rifle. there were at least 35 shell casings at the scene. The shooting victims range in age from 19 to 43. No arrests have been made. Rewards totaling $22,500 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect were offered by 3 agencies: $5,000 from Summit County CrimeStoppers, $7,500 from the U.S. Marshals Service, and up to $10,000 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
