The trade deadline for Major League Baseball is fast approaching. The Guardians have had one of the best records in baseball for the entire first half of the season. Lately with their starting pitching struggling their lead in the division has shrunk. It’s not as comfortable as it used to be. Is this the year the owner lets the front office go all in? Do they let them get rid of some prospects in trades, for another bat, another reliever, and not one, but possibly two starting pitchers??? With all the teams at the top having similar records and not one team looking more dominant than any of the others, this looks to be the year for the Guardians to throw all their chips on the table. The ownership has never done that in the past, and I’m sure most fans don’t expect them to do it again this year. But this team hasn’t won a World Series in 76 years. Roll the dice and go for it. Or let it pass and next year could be like last season where they team has no shot. This is probably the best opportunity the Guardians have had, but does the ownership finally take the risks that are necessary and make some bold moves. They should, but I don’t think any of us will believe it until we see it.
