4 killed, in 3 separate crashes on Turnpike

The Ohio state Highway Patrol is investigating 3 deadly crashes that took place within an hour of each other on the Ohio Turnpike Thursday Morning. The first crash happened around 5:30am on I-80 Eastbound in Swanton Township, in Lucas County. The crash involved 4 commercial vehicles and 1 passenger vehicle. 1 person was killed and 3 others injured and taken to Toledo area hospitals. The second crash occurred less than a mile away just 30 minutes later. OSHP says 2 people were killed in a crash involving 2 commercial vehicles, one of which was hauling sulfuric acid, and a passenger vehicle. There were multiple injuries and the Toledo Fire Department cordoned off the scene. Just before 6:30am, within a few miles of the first 2 crashes, troopers investigated a 5 vehicle crash on I-80 Westbound. The crash killed 1 person and there were multiple injuries. none of those involved has been identified. The accidents are still under investigation.
