Can the Cavaliers take the next step and get to the Eastern Conference finals this year or even to the NBA Finals??? With the season on the horizon, and the core of the team back for another go around, it remains to be seen if they can make that jump or not. There are positive signs, like Donovan Mitchell signing the extension because he wants to play here. Jarrett Allen is recovered from his injured ribs that knocked him out of last years playoffs. New coach Kenny Atkinson has been very involved in the offseason. He wants to get Evan Mobley more involved in the offense, told Darius Garland to shoot more, and wants to use a rotation of 10 or 11 players early on to get every incorporated into his scheme. The question is can this get them over the hump. In the Eastern Conference, they still have to deal with the defending Champion Boston Celtics, the 76ers with a healthy Joel Embiid, the Knicks are already a strong team, who just added Karl Anthony-Towns. The Pacers are up and coming and so are the Orlando Magic. It won’t be easy, but it is possible. We will start finding out in a few weeks how possible it is.
