if you’re in Akron this week, you may want to look up. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Goodyear Blimp, the Akron-based tire company is flying 3 of its 4 iconic airships over the city on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Goodyear says, Wingfoot One, Wingfoot Two, and Wingfoot 3 will celebrate the anniversary with a community-wide victory lap as a tribute to the blimp’s legacy. Tuesday, the blimps will soar over Wingfoot Lake State Park and Akron Mayor Shammas Malik’s State of the City Address at Lock 3. The trio of dirigibles will also flyover Canal Park at 5:30pm. The first 1000 fans at the Rubberducks game will get a free t-shirt to celebrate the blimp’s centennial. Viewing locations on Wednesday and Thursday: Downtown Akron and East Akron. The company did not provide details on specific times.
