A man is dead after drowning at Portage Lakes State Park beach in New Franklin. Officials say it happened in the designated beach area yesterday afternoon when the man went underwater and never resurfaced. Officers with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources recovered the man’s body around 6:30 last night. This is the second drowning at Portage Lakes in less than a week.
