The Mansfield Police Department is investigating after a young boy died Thursday. According to the police department , officers responded to a medical emergency in the 100 block of Wood Street around 3:15pm. When they arrived they found the 5 year old boy unconscious in a car. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are currently working the case as this appears to be a young boy was left in the vehicle during the extreme heat on Thursday. Weather records indicate that temperatures reached 91 degrees in Mansfield Thursday afternoon. No charges have been field at this time.
