Listen up parents of school age children. Beginning next school year, cell phone use will be banned. Senate Bill 58, sponsored by State Senator Jane Timken, was recently signed into law as part of the state budget. It’s goal: reduce distractions, curb cyberbullying, and keep students focused on daily instruction. The law prohibits students from using cell phones during school hours, with just a few exceptions, namely for health related needs backed by a written statement from a physician or emergencies outlined in a school’s safety plan.
