Jul 28 2014TIME FOR GOLF
Even folks who don't like golf or know much about it get fired up in Akron this week. The Bridgestone is here, and it's our yearly chance to rub elbows with the truly elite of the sport (yes, Tiger, that still includes you). ALL of the top 55 in the World Golf Rankings are entered, i'm not sure that's ever happened before. There are some players here that even I haven't heard of, mainly from South Africa and Asia, but not many. One player we know who isn't here is Ben Curtis, the Kent Stater who didn't qualify. Tiger Woods is defending champ, he's won in Akron eight (?!) times, but his recent back surgery should make him no more than a popular curiosity this week. Then there's Rory McIlroy, soaring as he comes off his win at the Open Championship. It's all right here, Gof Channel has round one coverage starting at noon Thursday.
